Rifle by Joe Douglas of Huntingdon County, PA

This rifle is in excellent condition with 23 Silver inlays all engraved. The unique lower patchbox plate has no engraving except the owners name in script, M A Yeager. The rest of the patchbox is stylistically engraved. The trigger guard has a unique spur added to the bow. The ramrod is original with a cleaning jag. The calibore is 38. The rifling is as crisp as the day it was made. The stock retains an original varnish finish. This rifle shows that Joe Douglas was a top maker in his period, circa 1850. This is a grand example of top percussion period rifle.
