General Hinds, Mississippi Territory, who commanded the troops under Andrew Jackson during this famous battle. This solid gold sword was recently discovered in Gov. Hinds family, made by goldsmith Fletcher-Gardiner of Philadelphia in 1816 - New Orleans was the conclusive battle of the War of 1812 where the British troops fresh from their victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, were wiped out by Andrew Jackson’s Tennessee riflemen.
