"American Engraved Powder Horns" by Stephen G. Grancsay was published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art showcasing the collection of J.H. Grenville Gilbert. Included in this study of Colonial American engraved powder horns are engravings from the powder horns of Rufus Girder. Included are descriptions of the horns, their provenance, and owners names. This is an excellent reference on 18th century powder horns.
"Engraved Powder Horns of the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War Era" is by Nathan L. Swayze with drawings by Don Troiana. Historical background information is provided on horns which include a place name as well as name and military record of some of the makers.
