Tim Sanner Powder Horn, Bill Legdon Bag, Nathan Allen Knife, Kris Polizzi Strap

While at Gettysburg doing "History Meets the Arts" for Lord Nelson's Gallery, I took a horn along to engrave for my son as my project for the weekend. It measures 15" long with his name on the front, the back side has a deer standing among pine trees with a sun smiling down. It has a turned applied horn tip held on by wooden pins and a turned maple end cap. He will also be receiving the nice bag made by Bill Legdon of Johnstown Pa., a Nathan Allen knife held in a sheath on the back of the bag, and as always, no respectable powder horn would be seen with out a fine woven strap by Kris Polizzi from Elizabethtown Pa.

Now Josh will be seen in style will at the primitive shoots. Hope you enjoy it Josh

Hunting Pouch by Sarah Miller with a Tim Sanners Powder Horn on a Kris Polizzi Strap

The double bag is made by Sarah Miller of Old Roxbury Store just east of Somerset Pa. It measures 8" wide by 6" high. Pillow ticking lined and aged to look very well used. Hand forged buckles and a ticking lined strap with a patch knife sheath sewn on. A nicely scalloped to on the flap finishes off this fine hand sewn shooting pouch.

The horn is one made by Tim Sanner it measures about14" around the outside curve and 21/2" across the cap end. A tapered octagon tip and a fake repair finish off a good looking horn with the plan of Fort Wm. Henry engraved on the front. The  back has a nice engraved saying on it with scrolls and other designs.

And no respectable horn should be seen without a Kris Polizzi from Elizabethtown, PA. This strap measures 53" long and is in the patriotic colors of old glory.

Powder Horn by Tim Sanner

I just finished this banded horn with a scalloped band on the large end of the horn and I was very pleased with the way it turned out.

The horn measures 16" along the outside curve with a turned scalloped band applied to the end of the horn. The end cap is hollowed out and turned with wooden pins holding the cap and band on the horn. a staple is attached to the throat for a strap. There is also a finely turned screw tip on the spout end of the horn.

Candle Holder/Tinder Box by Tim Sanner

This is walnut wood and engraved cow horn, app 11” high and the horn section is 3” round and 3” tall, the candle arm is 7” long. The horn container is open and the lid comes off for tinder and flint/steel to be stored.

I really liked making this, it was a nice break from powder horns, well sort of a break.
