Jerry Fisher Sheath

This sheath is a standing center seam, rawhide over veg-tan. I tried to tie all the colors together , the yellow and browns of the handle with the same in the rawhide. The skirt and attachment is cowhide ( veg-tan), both colored with some of my mixes. I thought the two items worked pretty good together. I knife without a sheath is half-done.

Hickory Handled Rifleman's Knife with Skirted Sash Sheath by Jerry Fisher

Although this is a new blade that I forged from 1084, the premise in my mind was that of an old blade, well used and worn but still going strong in a time when the price and acquisition of steel came dear, returned to a new life by being re handled in simple materials at hand, pewter from an old spoon, handle from and old Axe handle and fitted with a proper sheath.

Overall length is 12 inches with a heavily etched blade of 7 1/4 inches, forged from 1084. Peened through tang construction with poured pewter ferrule and butt cap. The handle is Hickory with some slight curl. Sheath is of cowhide in various weights with skirted sash retainer at the throat. Colored with some of my mixes.

Jerry Fisher Knife and Sheath

I forged this knife from 1084 with an overall length of 9 1/2 inches and a blade length of 5 . The blade features and aggressively etched patina and holds a fine edge. Very sharp! The handle is octagon to round from some of the offcuts of a past rifle build and has great color and warmth. I forged and drift fit the solid copper ferrule and complimented it with an inlet butt cap also of copper . Both have a beaten surface with a nice plum color.

To compliment the nature of this knife I fabricated a standing center seam sheath. The sheath consist of a veg-tanned cowhide liner with pigskin outer, topped off with a scalloped skirt with twisted fringe accented with subtle traces of reds and dark browns. The belt attachment will accommodate a sash or belt to 3 inches.

Jerry Fisher Bag

The bag is approximately 10 inches wide by 7 1/2 tall. Fashioned in cowhide ,lined with pigskin, scalloped detail on bag and strap with lots of character. I had passed over this leather many times over probably 10 years or so as it would be difficult to work with but finally it spoke to me. J.F.
