Eric Armstrong found that box lid buried away in the collection of the Bucks Co Hist Soc at the Mercer Museum probably 20 years ago. There was a crusty old guy that lived alone there in Doylestown named Frank Grafly and after he died, the BCHS got all of his stuff. He’d collected for years - Walt O’Conner knew him well. Apparently this box lid was in Grafly’s collection although nobody really knows where he got it. Eric Armstrong was doing a lot of research into the Bucks Co guys around that time and I believe (going by memory) he found records of David Thomas and that he was married into John Shuler’s family somehow, or something like that.
GREAT engraving.
