“The Saga of the Longknife” aka Wilber Leatherstockings Fennewald. Scaled down wooden folk art man with working accoutrements. Basically the last three months of my waking and sleeping hours. I’m kind of short on words about the project to express it right this minute. The other guys involved I want to publicly thank though with some serious gratitude. All went above and beyond and made knock out pieces. Michael Agee hat. Simeon England belt ax. Josh Wrightsman rifle. Eric Ewing bag. Todd Daggett knife and sheath. Tad Frei powder horn. Sam Hall tin measure. Alec Fourman moccs. Paul Fennewald the base and emotional support and financial support for barrel and lock and transport. All the rest of him me. To be auctioned off at the CLA show in Lexington this August. My original idea was a piece that celebrates the longrifle culture. A romanticized folk art piece of the stereotypical woodsman. N.C. Wyeth esc inspiration. Wilber leaves tomorrow for his journey to greener pastures and a modeling gig and ultimately a new home. Adios me amigo.
