Allenmengle Rifle by Ron Luckenbill

This rifle was inspired by an unsigned original which needed extensive work. The thing that struck me about this rifle is the Dutchy folk art patch box. I recreated the patch box exactly as the original with the side plates extending well in front of the hinge. The side plate and the cheek piece inlay continue the PA Dutch motif. While the engraving is not sophisticated, it easily conveys the nationality and bearing of the builder. The western Lehigh and eastern Berks County influences can be seen in the architecture of the rifle. The maker of the original remains unknown; however, it would be interesting to see more of his work.
