Frontier Rifle by Jack Brooks

This recently finished rifle is made from a collection of recycled parts, differing in style, as might have been done by a gunsmith on the early eastern frontier. The Rice barrel is 50 caliber rifled, full octagon, 44 inches long, and signed "J S Brooks 2009" in script engraving. The engraved round face Davis lock is English in style and could of come from a fowler or Indian trade gun. The stock is curly maple. The trigger guard is from an early American rifle and the thimbles from an English type G trade gun. The sterling silver thumb piece is from a mid-eighteenth century French Indian trade gun. The rifle was made without a butt plate, entry pipe, or side plate. Both metal and wood have been age to look like a fine antique rifle.
