I was going through an old stack of Muzzle Blasts last night and ran across this one. This nice Tennessee rifle was built for the 2008 Gunmakers Hall raffle at Friendship. I did not win it, but tried! Anyway, it just really struck me as a fine example of an East Tennessee gun, nothing more, nothing less. The builder was listed as Ron Boydston of North Carolina, whom I have never heard of other than this instance. Are you familiar with his work and have you seen anything else by him?

My mom and dad grew up with Ron, or they call him Ronnie. This would be in the Asheville NC area. We are pretty sure he is the same person. When he and my dad were young Ron took a gun buildign class at Haywood Tech. taught by Jim Chambers. If my fathers memory is correct. But they have lost contact with him over the years.
ReplyDeleteI tried to win the gun too and mom and dad were very excited to see his name. If you like Guy I can see what I can find out.

no Gusler Rifles on this entire site does not seem right.
ReplyDeletetype in his name... there are a few items... if you have photos of his work please share them...
ReplyDeleteIf we do not have many pieces by Wallace Gusler it is because we have not seen any at the show we attend to photograph. Wallace does not bring any to shows and people that own them have not brought them out nor have they sent any for us to post.
