This game bag I copied after an original that was collected in Richmond, Virginia back in the 1930's by an old collector friend, Herb Sweet.
The pouch has generous proportions, I reproduced it faithfully but I omitted the 8 game rings that hung from the original. Those game rings could be easily attached as they were simply stitched to the brass rings that connect the strap to the bag.
The age of the original is unknown to me but it was professionally hand-stitched suggesting it pre-dated the machine era. This classic design I feel could easily place it in the 18th century but considering how traditional designs hung on, it is possible that it could have been made early in the 19th century. It's unknown if this was Virginian or even American made. During the 18th & 19th century, many types of leather objects were indistinguishable between American and British made pieces. S.L.
