Woodlands, (Eastern Chippewa?), c. 1780, Sotherby's, December 5, 1972, Lot 81. The original of this bag was published in "Pleasing the Spirits, a Catalogue of a Collection of American Indian Art" by Douglas C. Ewing. Brain tan deer hide, all natural dyes on the quills. Body of bag measures 8 1/4 inches W x 7 /12 inches H. With an oblique finger woven strap, trimmed with original 18th century glass beads, fire blacken tin cones and dyed deer hair.
