About 14 inches on the outside curve. Color has only been added to highlight some of the engraving. Reproduced after and original, the horn band at the base has been continued with horn bands that cover the entire base plug. The wooden finial, also after the original, is removable.

Gorgeous work, John -- congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAnd there will be a major show of Grider's work -- including a hearty selection from the New-York Historical Society, and other horn drawings of his from various Mohawk Valley collections -- from April to August at the Arkell Museum. I'll keep you poster, now that I've see how to reach you again.
Best regards, Alice Smith Duncan
