Large and unique external screw-tip powder horn of most likely Virginia origin, circa 1800-1820. Screw tip shows some Pennsylvania characteristics, but turned horn butt plate with shelved steps with iron and brass ring furniture is distinctly southern. Horn has a pleasing amber to striated green color and patina. Retains original wood stopper on spout. Spout averages 12 threads per inch, measures 3" x 1" detached with horn having overall length of 14".
CONDITION. Solid with no cracks or bug damage and all hardware intact.
