William Lamb (NC, b. 1806), Percussion Kentucky Long Rifle

Jamestown, North Carolina, circa 1860, curly maple half stock percussion long rifle, the top flat of its 40 in. octagonal barrel is signed W. LAMB & SONS, iron hammer and lock plate, having double-set triggers, cheek rest and stock inlays, silver false wedge inlays, wooden ramrod present.

Length 56 in.

William Lamb made this rifle with his sons Henry Clarkson Lamb and Jesse G Lamb. Henry Clarkson Lamb made rifles for the State of North Carolina during the War Between the States. A similar example is published on page 95 of North Carolina Schools of Longrifles 1765-1865 by William W. Ivey.

Working action, some wood shrinkage, overall stable oxidation to ferrous elements, solid old patina to wood and brass.
