William Shener Pistol
Circa 1790-1800
Sheer worked in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
A few of his pistols have survived, but only two are signed.
Original Pipe Tomahawk
Circa 1770-1800
Found in Maine, this style and shape of pipe tomahawk did not change in style from the 1750 on to 1800. The tomahawk still has it's original haft and the bowl is brazed on the head with a slight seam visible.
An angle of the bowl to the haft allows for smoking without loosing the tobacco when used.
Jacob Rizer Pistol
Jacob setup shop in Bardstown, Kentucky around 1806, moving from Cumberland, Maryland were he learned his trade from his uncle.
The pistol exhibits many features found on his early work such as the arrow head file work seen on the brass mountings.
The initial on the butt cap are most likely the original owners.
On the barrel, Rizer signed his work with a beautiful J.R. in his fluid engraving as seen on his rifles.
Photographed at the 2018 CLA Show by Jan Riser.
