Join the Fort Boonesborough Foundation in helping support the archaeological work at the original fort site.We will be raffling an 18th century style Flintlock Rifle with proceeds to fund the work being done by Nancy O’Malley. O’Malley is the Assistant Director of the William S. Webb Museum of Anthropology and Office of State Archaeology at the University of Kentucky.
Work was begun in the spring of 2012 with a Federal grant that allowed the team that spent part of June and July at Fort Boonesborough in search of archaeological evidence of a Revolutionary War siege. Part of the hearth, some two tined forks, buttons and shards of pottery were uncovered.
After the Federal grant funds were used, O’Malley expressed interest in continuing work on the site and the foundation is now backing the Rifle Raffle as a means of raising the necessary funds to bring O’Malley back in the spring of 2013.
