“Bruin du le Roche” by T.C. Albert

The Legend of LaSalle and Tonti’s cache of gold buried on top of Starved Rock’s 125 foot bluff lured many 18th century treasure hunters to the ruins of the old trading post known as “Le Roche”.

One night over two hundred years ago, as if guarding the old French treasure a giant bear rose up out of the forest and chased a group looking for the fortune back into the Illinois river.

To date, the treasure has never been found, though rumors of it still persist.
