A Lehigh/Allentown screw-tip powderhorn and hunting bag that Eric Fleisher and I collaborated on. Eric made the bag and patterned it after an original by Isaac Getz. It is made from vegetable tanned cow hide, hand stitched with linen thread and features an internal pocket, rolled welt seams and a gusset. After dyeing, the bag was then hand burnished. On the bag of the bag is a custom sheath for a hand forged Charlie Wallingford hunting knife.
I made the screw-tip horn which is patterned after those found in the upper Lehigh Valley near Allentown, PA. It has lead oxide spots, a cherry butt with integral button and an naturally black horn screw tip. The butt has nice turnings and is chip carved.
This set was made to accompany and Allen Martin Lehigh style flintlock rifle.
