Jeff Bibb Bag

This pouch is what Steve Lalioff might call a "representation" rather than a direct copy of an old pouch. It is a combination of two pouches, one from the Southern Appalachians, and one from southwest Virginia. Most Southern Appalachian pouches are not this fancy, while pouches from Virginia often employ many common features such as welted gussets, regular or wrapped binding, fringe, etc. The shape, flap, and size were taken directly from an original Appalachian pouch.

The pouch is 7.5" wide and 7" deep with a gusset and fringed welts and binding. This gives it a good capacity without looking like a handbag. It is made of vegetable tan goatskin and lined with blue stripe pillow ticking. The entire pouch and lining has been aged somewhat, since I like them to look old. There is a hanging inside pocket in the same shape as the pouch which provides quick access to balls, patches, or other small items. The shoulder strap is 1" wide and adjusted with an aged, brass buckle.

  1. Thanks for the feature! The pouch is now sold and on its way to a new home.
