Unusual flintlock
eprouvette or powder tester circa early to mid 18th century, metal
grip, outside spring on frizzen showing signature on top of metal grip of which
“Gale” is visible. The metal grip shows traces of fine engraving. The metal
surfaces show some light to heavy pitting and erosion. Small parts are all
retained. The wheel which shows hand-engraved numbers. A good early piece that
has the similarities in design to Queen Anne era English and Scottish arms.
