1775 Iron Block

My mother, Ursula Ruggie, was a great antiquer.  Antiquing was her favorite past time.  She loved old buildings, especially those with a history.  This is a block of iron that weighs ten and a half pounds.  It is 4 by 5 inches and 2 inches in height.  Many years ago, mother heard of an old mill in Delaware County, Pennsylvania that was going to be torn down to make way for progress.  She went on site and purchased this block of iron for 10 cents.  It had been laid with the corner stone in 1775.
