David Crisalli Horn

Made from an inexpensive ($17) ready made horn sold by one of the muzzleloading supply companies, this horn was disassembled and the tip cut back to remove the poorly done groove cut to retain a leather thong strap.  The horn was then reassembled with a new walnut base plug and a turned antler tip.  I liked the fact that this was an almost all black cow horn and it just needed to be spruced up a little.  The decorative bands are sterling silver as is the engraved makers plate.  The turned antler tip has a brass liner that prevents splitting and the bore is tapered to fit the fiddle peg.  The base plug is fitted with a removable, threaded wooden cascabel, and a leather gasket, for easy filling.  The finger woven strap attaches to the horn by means of leather tag ends, small brass buckles, and turned brass horn attach rings.
