The Collection of Manfred Schmitz

This is a set that I use with my fowler. Bag and hanger for the hatchet and the knife sheath is made by myself . The knife is made by Shame Emig and the hatchet by Nathan Allen. The powder horn is by Scott Sibley. The leather canteen I bought years ago an ebay.

Horn is made by Siggi Mau, woven horn strap by Tom Condé, quilled woodland Indian bag from a Czech reenactor, quilled knife sheath is made by my wife and the Indian war club by Fred Miller.

Bison hide bag is made by Manfred, the horn is made by Ted Frei, the knife is made by Kyle Willyard, the sheath is made by Manfred and the pipe tomahawk is from a friend of mine, Siggi Mau.

Pistol Case and Accessories by Manfred Schmitz

Last year I presented a pair of Britsh Officer Pistols from Mist & Co. London, 1783-1793.  Now I have made a case for the pair.  I used cherry wood for the case, all the accessories I made with only the lock, hinge and the green felt being bought. The pistols can be seen here.

Antique Power Horn with Repair by Manfred Schmitz

 

When I bought the horn the butt was in a poorly condition, broken and with a missing button. So I made my first repair on an old powder horn. I send some pics to Art DeCamp who said it is a very interesting horn and a good purchase. Art think the origin could be Virginia or North Carolina.

 This is a belt knife bought at the Fort Frederick Market Fair this year made by the Old Dominion Forge with a simple knife sheath I made.

18th Century Shaving Kit by Manfred Schmitz with Razor by Erv Tschanz

I bought at the Fort Frederick Market Fair by Erv Tschanz a hand forge razor and a badger hair shaving brush. Later at home I made a small mirror, soap dish, leather sharpener and a wooden razor box all in the style of the 18th century.

Belt Knife by Manfred Schmitz

The past few days I did some work at the forge, I made a small belt knife from a old file. For the handle I use a nice piece of maple.

Revolutions War Cheese Box Canteen by Manfred Schmitz

 This is a Revolutions War Cheese Box Canteen I made. I used ash and douglas wood for the body, hand forged nails for to fix the body together and to fasten the leather loops. It is painted with milk paint. To made it waterproof I use brewers pitch inside.

Windsor Comback Arm Chair Made by David Morris and Assembled by Manfred Schmitz

Here some pics from a chair that was send to me as a kit from the Cabinetmaker David Morris in PA.  It was a lot cheaper to send it to Germany as a kit rather than as a complete chair. After recieving the kit I assembled the chair and finished it with milk paint for an authentic look.
