The barrel and furniture appear to be from an original John Armstrong rifle. The rifled 3-stage barrel is signed "John Armstrong" in an inlaid brass plaque on the top flat. The Armstrong-made lockplate is inscribed "JA" in the center. There are 13 pieces of engraved silver inlaid into the stock. All of the classic John Armstrong furniture is engraved, except for the nosecap and front 2 ramrod ferrules. Partially figured maple stock of exact dimensions of an Armstrong rifle. The relief carving is done exactly in the style and hand of John Armstrong, as Louie Parker was a master carver and gunsmith. It takes a keen eye to recognize that this rifle has been restocked.
CONDITION: Excellent throughout. Barrel retains a brown patina. The lock is a professional reconversion and functions well. The lock retains a brown patina, with some wear and freckling to the plate. Brass retains a pleasing dark mustard patina. The stock has been aged and shows scattered marks and dings, showing great faux aging. A beautiful and masterfully done work of art.
From the Louie Parker Collection.
