The collecting fraternity has lost one of the old ones. And I have lost a dear friend. Stan loved his Southern rifles, and throughout his collecting career has owned some great ones. He loved to trade, and he was very good at it. And if you asked for his opinion on anything, buddy get ready. He was going to give you a straight answer, That’s just how he was, he wasn’t going to sugar coat it in any way. He was a longtime member of the KRA, and a life member of the NRA.
He was a big guy with a giant heart, he will be missed by all who knew him! He had been in a wheelchair for several years, but that didn’t stop his drive for collecting. If it was old, he enjoyed it. When he lost the love of his life his dear wife Peggy he said how he felt so alone. He was surrounded by his kids and grandkids and loved them all, he would make the shows in his chair with his son in law Jeff. His daughter Michelle was his caregiver to the very end. About a year after his wife’s death, we were talking and I told him we needed to get a group together and have a show and tell. He looked at me and said, “Bob I could be in a room with a thousand people and I would still be alone”. He missed his Peggy...!
Stanley J. Bourgeois passed away September 12, 2022.
