Indian trade silver and brass gorget, Touchmark "IgL" the mark of Jacob Gerritse Lansing of Albany, silversmith, c. 1760-70. A rare surviving Indian trade gorget, the only surviving colonial period example. Albany was an important center for Indian trade silver production. The silver bear likely signifies a special gorget made for a specific chief of the Mohawk Iroquois Bear clan.
