Steve Lodding Pistol

The Pistol barrel length is 5 1/4" with an overall length of 11.5". The bore has been sized to shoot a .600" round ball. The powder charge measures approx. 18grns depending on what size powder granulation you shoot. It is stocked in English Walnut with rococo style form of Scallop Shell around the tang. The hardware is Sterling Silver, (Grotesque Mask butt cap, Stand of Arms side plate, and Thunbpiece). The bottom of the cast frame by the breech is marked G. Gill Richmond and also has the early London Proof and Inspection marks with a, ("F" under a Crown) stamped in between them. Known as a "Foreiners Mark" was used after 1741 for makers that did not belong to the "London Gunmakers Company". Dating on this pistol would be Circa 1745 period. There is Acanthus leaf border around of the rest of the breech area and the tang is also engraved with leaf designs. All other engraving on the frame ,cock, frizzen, and trigger guard are done with a delicate "nick & dot" borders typical of the period. I should also mention that there is a trigger guard safety and also a barrel wrench.
