Southern Mountain Rifle by Colin MacCrea

I just completed this custom built Southern Mountain rifle. It has a 42" Rice Southern Classic 45 caliber barrel, and a Davis Late Ketland flintlock. All parts are hand made except the lock, barrel, screws, and touch hole liner. There is an 1/8" castoff and a 13 3/8 length of pull. The chevron muzzle cap is pewter. All that remains is to sight it in. Just in time for deer season.

A blade forged from a file. Turned curly maple handle, a pewter bolster, and steel plate at the back. Maple is finished with nitric acid and linseed oil. Overall length is just under 9", with a 4 3/4" blade. Vegetable tanned cow hide sheath in the works.

Hudson Fowler Smoothbore by Colin MacCrea

This Hudson Fowler Smoothbore: 1690-1770 is stocked in plain maple with brass mountings. The full round tapered barrel is 20 gauge and is 46 inches long. All relief carving was researched and made correct for this style and time period.
