British Consul's Court Bicorn, Boston, 1790

Fur felt, black ostrich feather trim on upper brim, gold gilt embroidery on black ribbon w/ etched gold "Brittania" button, leather & blue silk lining stamped "Henry Sr. de Courant Paix 9", L 17", F Ht 5.5", B Ht 7", plus 2.5" for feathers, excellent. Worn w/ 2-piece suit in preceeding lot. 

Provenance: Thomas McDonogh, appointed first British Consul to New England in 1790.
