Who's mark is MS?
It is believed that this knife was made by Max Soaper.

Several people thought that MS is Master Smith in the Knife makers' Guild, but there is no mark on the other side to indicate the makers name.
Maybe Mike Small from Maryland who built knives back in the late 80's.

ReplyDeleteThis blade was hand forge by Max Soaper, 516o diffentally heat treated. MS on the left side is his marking.If you have any questions or would like to see more of his work he is listed in the Contempary LongRifle's directory...
ReplyDeleteA "Master Smith" is an American Bladesmith Society (forged blades) rating. Often, the "MS" would be a different font and would be on the off side... often is not always.
