Lake Cumberland C.L.A. Mini Show

The Lake Cumberland C.L.A. Mini Show will be held February 1, 2 & 3, 2013 at the Lake Lure Lodge at the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown, Kentucky. The show opens on Friday, February 1st at 10:00AM and is over at noon on Sunday, February 3rd. The show opens at 8:00AM on Saturday and Sunday and is open until 11:00PM on Friday and Saturday nights. Participants are encouraged to bring their best items for display as the theme of this show is Education.

The guest speaker will be General George Rogers Clark at 4:00PM on Saturday. John Conklin's annual "Whiskey Tasting" will immediately follow.

Room reservations can be made at the Lure Lodge, 270-343-3111. Please mention the C.L.A. Mini Show when making your reservations.

Lake Cumberland CLA - Mini Show

The Lake Cumberland Mini CLA Show is set for February 4 - 6, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown, Kentucky. The show set up starts at 10:00 am on Friday, February 4th. The show closes at noon on Sunday, February 6th. The show opens at 8:00 am on Saturday and Sunday and is open until 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

The guest speak this year is Mr. Bill Ivey, collector and author of "North Carolina Schools of Long Rifles - 1765-1865". Bill's collection will be on display and he will speak at 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.

Larry Spisak and Morgan's Glade will provide music throughout the weekend.

The Origin of the Dulcimer

The Virginia highlands dulcimer developed from the European Scheiholt. German immigrants brought the ancient Scheiholt to Pennsylvania, Shenandoah Valley and beyond. The introduction of this instrument formed the beginning of the Virginia Allegheny dulcimer. The Scheiholt played the same roll for the dulcimer development that the Yeager did for the Longrifle.
