The horn is not based on any particular historical example; rather, I used elements and styles from various sources that I liked in building this horn. It features a single band, and has a base plug and applied tip of lathe turned poplar. The stopper is red cedar turned on a lathe. I wanted something a bit different than the usual natural colors and antique golds often seen, and also something that would not be so conspicuous to a turkey's eyes while in the woods, so I dyed it a nice chocolate brown and very lightly "antiqued" the wood parts. I was nervous about moving away from my usual dye colors, but I was pleasantly surprised at the results of this one. This is the third horn I have built.
