My Friend Bill Chemerka is writing a tribute article on Fess Parker and has asked me to answer this question:
To what extent did Fess Parker's portrayal of Davy Crockett (and/or Daniel Boone) influence you as a historian, writer, gun smith, painter, educator, historical interpreter (re-enactor), etc.?
Since most everyone agrees that Disneys Davy Crockett was a huge influence in their lives, I thought I would pass this around and see if you can put in your two cents!
We will publish the Chemerka article on the Contemporary Makers blog when it's finished.
Please respond directly to WRCHEMERKA@aol.com
Thanks So Much,
Robert Weil
As a child, I was a Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone junkie, I read any and all books I could find on them. I also watched all the movies and TV shows on them. Fess Parker to me will always be Daniel Boone!
ReplyDeleteI started out in Muzzleloading at age 10, I have had a love of muzzleloaders all my life, I have always carried the flame of Black Powder with me, it is just a part of who I am. I know that Fess Parker as either Davy Crockett or Daniel Boone helped imprinted me with my life long intrest, that and the smell of burnt Blackpowder! It still makes me crazy!
