FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE BY JACK HAUGH. Cal. 50 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 44" full oct. signed "J Haugh". Hand forged unmarked flint lock. Stock is curly maple. One rnd. silver wrist inlay. Full engraved beveled brass sideplate. 2 Piece brass patchbox is nicely engraved & stock is relief carved forward & rear of cheekpiece, to rear of breech plug tang, forward of patchbox & around rear ramrod pipe. There is a brass plaque inside patchbox which testifies to fact this rifle was numbered "56" and made by J. Haugh in Indiana to commemorate the Pennsylvania Bicentennial.
CONDITION: near new except patchbox release is broken or missing.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Frank Glenn Marsh.

Those were ordered by the Pennsylvania Museum commission. There was supposed to be 100 made. 50 by jack, and 50 by John Bivins.. my dad and I made roughly 85 barrels for them when the commission called it halts. Those guns should be bringing double that amount of money.
ReplyDeleteI understood there were actually 200 of these made. 100 by each man. Even by Jack Haugh and odd by John bivins. I have #100 and I had read Jim chambers had #200 I believe. Supposedly at least most of the barrels were made by Paris. I was only able to acquire the rifle. Would love to fight nd the horn.
