The site is called “contemporary makers” and if you’ve been following it for more than a minute you’d realize that it’s a documentation of the work of a wide variety of historically inspired makers and artists, and not limited to long rifles and tomahawks etc. but also includes furniture, paintings, and yes, folk art bird carvings.
After 55 years of Longrifles and all that goes with it, 37 Years KRA, I am well aware of what it is,, I like to know connections f things to the 18 th century, having owned several hundred long guns , hundreds of powder horns and tomahawks, knives , real pouches., I do not recall ever seeing anything like this in the early period. If you have some post them, waiting.
Thank you, Eric. Anonymous: My work is informed by PA German late 18th and early 19th century decorative carvings, which exist in museum and private collections. You may not have come across such in your travels, but they do exist.
