Here are a few shots of a recently finished rifle - as usual not a copy, the customer wanted a gun with "Germanic influence" but definitely an American rifle. I detailed it with some simple carving and file work. The maple board we chose was a good hard piece, very nice to work with. The .54 caliber barrel was made by Bobby Hoyt patterned after an original.
If I had taken another week to finish it I might have taken this one deer hunting ! Did manage to kill one so far this year with the mighty .60 cal rifle but it's always fun to "break in" a customer's gun if they don't mind the timing is right.
