It is made from wrought iron with an old buggy spring welded in for a bit. The bowl is threaded just like the old ones were. It has an ash haft stained with nitric acid and the axe has been aged a little to mellow it out some. I don't like my things to be too shiney. You can also see the leather gasket between the head and haft in one of the photo's.

Why is it called a Fraser Style Axe? I am interested because an ancestor of mine is John Fraser who was a gunsmith in 1700's Maryland. I have been searching for anything that shows his "mark" or describes his work. Thank you
