The interesting thing about Fleenor is that his work in every respect , i.e. carving, engraving, inlays, architecture, is almost an exact copy of Louis Smith's style... or vise versa! (Both from Tennessee) I have seen several of Fleenors guns and I often thought that they were made by Louis and signed with a different name. I don't remember Louis mentioning him, but they may have worker together on some projects. I ordered/owned at least 30 differnt guns by Louis Smith and though I never met him face to face we had a great phone relationship for nearly 20 years. He passed on in 1994.
Leroy Fleenor is in his 80's and lives in TN.

Louis Smith was sent to heaven in 2000.
ReplyDeleteLeeroy and Louis worked together on many projects. I visited them both very often as a child with my father and saw them build many rifles and pistols in their workshops.
ReplyDeleteMr. Fleenor died in 2016 at the age of 86. I am very sorry for this loss and very pleased that I have a rifle to keep his memory alive.
