Joseph Privott

The collage picture is an example of the different ways that trade beads were implemented by Natives. Featured are small hair ornaments, a headband, neck sheath strap, and shooting bag. The bag and green hair ornament are reproductions of Scottish museum pieces attributed to Southeastern peoples. The others feature designs that are also documentable to the southeast.

The cup is a small maple burl with a bear effigy. I carved it while considering the fastidious nature and minimal gear of natives on campaign.

  1. I do sincerely apologise if my comments seem so negative, but is there any chance of you telling us what it is we are looking at? Period represented?, which Indian group? Who might use these objects? Etc.
