As part of
a grandfather’s continuing tradition to his grandson, Jeremiah David Browning -
this is the fourth handmade knife made by friends for his birthday. This year’s
neat little knife was made to fit Jeremiah’s hand by noted knife maker, Daniel
Casey of Searcy, Arkansas. “Jake”
received this knife on his 13th birthday, November 7, 2013 from his grandfather, H. David Wright. Daniel exhibited his usual craftsmanship in creating
this handsome knife.
The forged
blade with Daniel’s touch mark (and two hearts which has become an artistic
tradition among the artists) is handled in curly maple with an iron bolster and
a silver pommel cap with a peened tang. An inlaid coin silver panel in the
handle is engraved “HDW • JDB • 11.7.13”
This is the
fourth knife made in the continuing tradition from a grandfather to a fine
grandson. Last year’s 2012 knife was made by Joe Seabolt, 2011 by Glen Mock,
and the 2009 knife was made by Ian Pratt.
Thanks to
all four artists for making my grandson’s gifts extra special.
